What is the Matter Second Grade?

On Friday, Our Mustang Second Graders had a fun day of science as they experimented with various forms of matter.  In the first classroom they did experiments with Mrs. Church as they made predictions and explored which objects would sink or float in water and then explained why some objects floated while others didn't.

As we traveled down the hallway to Mrs. Powell's Second Grade classroom, the aroma of pancakes caught our attention. In this classroom, the children learned about matter changing from a liquid to a solid.

I

In Mrs. Baker's Second Grade classroom, we caught our Mustangs enjoying the antics of dancing raisins as they explored the properties of gas and the reaction that bubbles would have on raisins dropped in various liquids. The children really enjoyed their morning learning about Matter.

First Grade Celebrates Warmer Weather With Kite Day

Breezes blew the wispy hair of our first grade as they took their kites to the field for an afternoon of fun in the sun. The warm spring air put a lightness in everyone's step as they enjoyed the warm Friday afternoon with their classmates and family volunteers.

HELP FOR HAITI

On Monday, as part of Mull Elementary School's Around the World in 180 Days Global series, a representative from Samaritan's Purse came to Mull Elementary and talked about the wonderful people of Haiti and how due to the despairing conditions following the catastrophic earthquake of January 12th, they are a people of desperate need. Karen Bromby from the Samaritan's Purse-Charlotte office-Operation Christmas Child section, talked about the 5 areas that Samaritan's Purse first addresses in a crisis such as this. They were Shelter, Medical, Water, Food and Non-Food (basic hygiene) needs. For each of these areas, she described how Samaritan's Purse tries to help those people meet these basic but essential needs. Within 24 hours of the earthquake, Samaritan's Purse had mobilized a DART team to assist in Haiti.
