Burke County's hometown boy, Benton Blount, is quickly becoming a household name across America! He has now advanced to the finals on the hit TV show "America’s Got Talent." He soared through the auditions as one of the top singers in the competition. Then he blew away the judges as he sang a rendition of "Jolene" that quickly went viral in the second round. The show, which airs on NBC on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, helps find new and exciting talent among the millions of people who audition annually, and Benton quickly moved to the top of the list as part of the best talent America has to offer.

This gifted man is a product of the Burke County Public School system. Benton attended Rutherford College Elementary, Heritage Middle School, and is a proud graduate of East Burke High School's Class of 1998.
