posted Feb 14, 2018, 8:18 AM by Cheryl Shuffler

Alana W., a fourth-grader at George Hildebrand Elementary School, is the first-place winner in the American Heart Association’s HeART Poster Contest, sponsored by Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge.

She will be invited to attend the annual Heart Ball on Feb. 24 along with her family and principal, Jeannie Jandrew. Alana will also receive a bicycle from the AHA.

“Because we had so many artists submitting works from nine schools, we wanted to recognize the second and third place winners as well,” said Kathy C. Bailey, CEO and president of Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge and a judge for the competition. “We will be providing bikes for these two winners.”

Second-place winner is Karlie M., a fourth-grader from Valdese Elementary School, and the third-place winner is Addison W., a third-grader from Oak Hill Elementary School.

The American Heart Association and Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge would like to thank the schools that participated: George Hildebrand Elementary, Valdese Elementary, Oak Hill Elementary, Forest Hill Elementary, Glen Alpine Elementary, Salem Elementary, W. A. Young Elementary, Chesterfield Elementary and Drexel Elementary.
