Forest Hill ESL teachers Wendy Hammerstone and Izabela Pedro with their first graders studying living vs. non-living things:
For our 1st lesson this year, we will be learning about living and non-living things.  We decided upon this after discovering a voluntary pumpkin plant that sprouted from a discarded jack-o-lantern from last October right behind our learning cottage amongst weeds.  Today we harvested one pumpkin and we discovered a smaller one hiding in the tall weeds.  We will pick this at later time with another group of 1st graders.  We love our voluntary pumpkins:)
