Karen Causby is a fourth grade Math and Science teacher at Forest Hill Elementary School. She is very passionate about the various challenges that await her and her students. Karen taught 6th grade for 15 years, stayed at home for 5 years with her twin boys and then returned to the classroom. She has devoted 19 years to Burke County and their children.
Her parents were the most influential people in her life: encouraging team play, fairness, cultural arts, developing many talents, and nurturing life long skills. She was also
positively influenced by her high school coaches, her Aunt Sue (teacher), and Dr. Melba Burke (college professor). They all encouraged her to be an educator since she seemed to have a knack for and
with people—children especially. She aspired to be like her role models, so becoming a teacher seemed to be a natural choice. Karen enjoys watching all sports especially those her twins, Ty and Tripp
participate in and her husband, Tony coaches. She enjoys jogging, cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Karen is an influential and valued member of the Morganton Community.
