When applying for positions within Burke County Public Schools, applicants should forward their resume and cover letter to the appropriate contact person listed on the position posting. Please make sure to note the position number and position in your cover letter.
ALL applicants MUST complete an online application. This can be completed online by selecting http://schooljobs.dpi.state.nc.us. Near the end of the application, please select "Burke County" instead of "Statewide" to assure the visibility of your application.
After you have been offered the position, you will need to forward the remaining documents listed below to the Human Resources Department - Attention Pre-Employment Specialists, PO Box 989, Morganton NC, 28680. Do not submit documents if you have not been offered a position.
Applicants for Substitute Teaching need to complete all items listed below in the Substitute Teaching column, including three reference forms.

Teacher Assistant applicants (as part of the No Child Left Behind legislation) are required to possess an Associate's Degree or 48 transferable hours of semester credit. Please include with your application a college transcript showing your degree, or, at minimum, 48 transferable hours of semester credit.
