On Monday, January 29, our fifth grade demonstrated their knowledge of motion and design (Science Goal 4) by launching marshmallows from catapults they built at home. Students were only permitted to use a cardboard box, spoons, rubber bands, and tape to construct their machines. They were given the opportunity to test their catapults multiple times while only changing one variable each time to see which helped their marshmallows fly the farthest.
