Liberty's 2015 MathCounts
Competition Team
The following students will be traveling to Hickory to represent Liberty at our chapter competition on February 17th.  These students had the top test scores for their grade level in our school wide MathCounts competition.  Congratulations!

Middle School Western Regional Jazz Clinic​
LMS was the site host for the Middle School Western Regional Jazz Clinic Friday, February 6th.

Liberty Student Wins 1st Place in Regional Science Fair

Liberty Middle School student Mario S. recently won first place in the regional science fair for a chemistry project titled: "Antifreeze - How Much Do You Need?".  The regional competition was held in Boone, NC.

Burke County Public Schools had 13 projects competing in the fair.

​Mario's first-place win advances him to the North Carolina State Science Fair in March.

LMS Cheerleaders win 1st Place in North vs South 
High School 
Middle School Cheer Competition
On October 11, the Liberty Middle School Cheerleaders competed in the 2014 North vs South High School Middle School Cheer Competition in Charlotte.  They had a very impressive performance and were extremely excited to bring back 1st place in their division.  This was their first competition as a team and they worked extremely hard for this achievement.
The Liberty Middle School Cheerleaders also performed in
the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Pre-Game show on December 6.  This is the second year Liberty Middle Cheerleaders have been selected for this honor. They had an outstanding performance and a memorable experience.

Students Support Troops Abroad

A Servant's Heart, community service group at LMS sponsored by Monica Maston mailed 300 letters to military service men andwomen who will be spending the holidays away from their families while serving their country overseas this year.  This is a wonderful and thoughtful way to support our troops abroad!

Daughters of the American Revolution Award
​Morgan C. was the overall 8th grade winner for the county and she also placed second in the region.

Two LMS Students Invited to Join 2015 ALL-District Band

Five Liberty students traveled to Central Davidson Middle School located in Lexington, NC to audition for the 2015 All-District band. Over 600 middle school students
auditioned to be a part of this distinguished and honored group of young individuals. 

After a long day of auditions, 
Kaitlynn W. and Victoria L. placed high enough in their auditions to receive an invitation to join the 2015-ALL District Band.  Making All-District Band is a very high honor!

Travis W., Jacob C., and Zachary K. should also be congratulated for their outstanding efforts to represent LMS!

Wins 2nd Place in National
Transportation Contest
Our very own, Leonard J., a 7th grader, has placed 2nd in the National Transportation Art Contest!  We are very proud of Leonard and his accomplisment!  Leonard was presented with an award from the NCDPI Section Chief of Transportation.

The Liberty Belles Service League collected 681 donations for their "One School, One Can, Our Community" food drive to benefit BUCM.
