Now that you have finished reading this wonderful book about a special
friendship between Jesse Aarons and Leslie Burke, why don’t you explore other
ideas found in the story? How about the
story’s setting? Could you plan a vacation to Virginia? One of the main characters was a girl. Did
you know that an Olympic athlete who wore a leg brace during her childhood won
three gold medals in track and field?
Through this web quest, you will learn more about Katherine Paterson,
famous American women, friendship, and the state of Virginia.

famous American woman you chose. Be
sure to include a picture on the title

EVALUATION
Your partnership will be responsible for completing each of the
four tasks. Your grade for the entire
project will be based on neatness, completeness, cooperation, and time on
task. Each partner should contribute
his/her equal share to the entire project.
CONCLUSION
After completing each of the four tasks you have learned more
about the Newbery award-winning author, Katherine Paterson. Are you interested
