Patton’s tech team wins regional awards

The Patton High School Technology Student Association participated in the Annual Western North Carolina Technology Student Association Competition on Feb. 22. Students from all over western North Carolina converged on Appalachian State University to compete in a wide variety of events ranging from fashion design to architecture to flight design. Thirteen students represented Patton High School and brought home four awards. Vance Jones and Owen Streppa won second in video game design. Sterling Hall and Cole Whisnant won second in structural engineering. Bailley Tallent and Ella Evans won third in transportation modeling. Dorian Gregory won third in flight endurance. Patton students also competed in VEX robotics, 3D computer design and problem solving. The team’s next competition is the North Carolina State Technology Student Association Conference held in Greensboro on April 3-5. Patton career and technical education teacher Clay Nelson is the team’s advisor.
