Energy Conservation Program

The Energy Conservation program began in June 2009 as an effort to effectively manage our utility dollars and save positions within the School System. Since that time, we have become one of the leaders in the nation with our approach to conservation, and all the while achieved our goal of saving positions in the system and improved the indoor environment within the schools. To date, our cost avoidance and savings since June 2009 are $11,557,000 or 43.1%. During the same time period, Burke County Public Schools has become an Energy Star Partner and each school has been awarded the Energy Star Label as an indication of the level of conservation and efficiency that we have achieved.
