Eligibility:
McCain Funeral Home & Cremations is offering two prospective graduating high school seniors a merit scholarship in the amount of $500 to use towards college/post-secondary educational expenses.
Interested students must meet the following criteria:
• Must be a current graduating high school senior in the Burke County School System, Caldwell County School System, or McDowell County School System.
• Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 (unweighted on a 4.0 scale). • Must submit an official transcript (in a sealed envelope).
• Must have proof of acceptance into a 2-4 year post-secondary institution (including trade schools).
• Must have 2 sealed letters of recommendation from one of these sources: Teacher, Clergy, Employer, or a Coach. (Letters cannot be written by a relative).
• Must submit an essay of 500 words that must discuss themselves, their plans for the future, and how they have demonstrated leadership, integrity, and community service.
In addition to completing the scholarship application, students will need to submit, letters of recommendation, proof of college acceptance, essay, and an official transcript to our scholarship review committee. Completed packets may be dropped off to our office, emailed to us at mccainfuneralhome@gmail.com (please put “Scholarship Packet” in the subject line), or mailed to:

Amount: There will be 3 $5,000 scholarships awarded.

Amount: One to five $5,000 scholarships.
Deadline: Must be received by North Morganton United Methodist Church by May 1st, 2025.
Eligibility:
Any student in Burke County, N.C. seeking higher education.
Any student who has received this scholarship in a previous year is eligible to reapply again. Applicants do not have to be a member of North Morganton United Methodist Church.
Amount: $1,500 per year
Eligibility:
The Bobby Chapman Scholarship is to be awarded to a student who is a graduate
(or soon will be) of a secondary school in the Southeastern United States and/or
participated in a prior Bobby Chapman Invitational.
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Postmarked by March 31st, 2025
Eligibility:
● Must be a senior at Patton or Freedom High School
● Please fill out the application completely.
● Please provide three letters of reference, two from personnel at your school
and one from an employer or a person in the community. Please do not use
relatives as references.
● Please provide a copy of your transcript.

- Be enrolled in a TEACH grant eligible program
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.25
- Receive TEACH grant counselling going over terms and conditions

- Be an undergraduate majoring in criminal justice at a UNC system school or NC private institution
- Be a North Carolina resident for tuition purposes
- Be enrolled full-time
- Must be recommended by local sheriff

Requirements
- Currently attending a NC community college
- NC resident eligible for in-state tuition
- 2.5 or higher unweighted GPA
- High school diploma or GED
- Filed FAFSA
- Exhibits leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement

Requirements
- Be enrolled at a NC community college
- Be in good academic standing with said community college
- Completed at least 50% of that degree or credential program

Requirements
- Have either been adopted from NC Division of Social Services (DSS) foster care after the age of 12, or aged out of NC DSS foster care at age 18 (must have been in care on their 18th birthday)
- NC resident eligible for instate tuition
- Enroll at a state community college or a university in the UNC system (Listed Here!) at least as half time

Category I (Financial Need)
Accredited four-year universities/colleges, two-year community colleges/technical schools —
undergraduate only
• Based on academic performance and financial need.
• Applicant must be enrolled full-time in, or have applied to, a university or college as stated above.
• No federal tax forms (1040’s) will be accepted.
• Must provide a copy of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the Student Aid
Index..
Category II (Merit)
Accredited four-year universities/colleges, two-year community colleges/technical schools –
undergraduate only
• Based on academic performance without regard to financial need.
• Applicant must be enrolled full-time in, or have applied to, university or college as stated above.
Category III (Members Only)
Accredited four-year colleges/universities or two-year community colleges/technical schools
• Awarded to active and associate members who are working full time and wish to continue their
education on a part time basis.
• Applicant must be enrolled before disbursement of funds are issued.
◊ Undergraduate degree (six hours or more per semester)
◊ Graduate degree (three hours or more semester)
• Applicant must be enrolled in, or have applied to, university or college.
• Application must be postmarked by April 15 and sent to the SEANC member’s district.
Retiree Grandchild - Category I Scholarship Application (Financial Need)
Accredited four-year colleges/universities or two-year community colleges/technical schools
• Based on academic performance and financial need
• Applicant must be enrolled full time before disbursement of funds are issued
• Must provide a copy of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the Student Aid
Index.
Retiree Grandchild - Category II Scholarship Application (Merit)
Accredited four-year colleges/universities or two-year community colleges/technical schools
• Based on academic performance without regard to financial need
• Applicant must be enrolled full time before disbursement of funds are issued
Leadership NC Scholarship
A scholarship program has been established by the Emerging Leaders Council of the State Employees
Association of North Carolina (SEANC) to allow one SEANC member the opportunity to participate in
Leadership North Carolina. Only active SEANC members are eligible to apply. Associate members and
affiliates are not eligible.
● Must be a currently active member of SEANC, and have been active for a minimum of 2
years
● Membership must be in good standing
● Currently working full time
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: March 31st, 2025
Eligibility:
Those who plan to attend or are attending any post-secondary educational institution will be eligible. Eligible institutions include universities, colleges, technical schools, trade, and vocational institutions.
Self-Help employees and board members and their family members are not eligible to apply. A “family member” is a person's spouse, parents, siblings, children, and life partner; the parents, siblings and children of a person’s spouse or life partner; and anyone living within the person's household as a family member.

Deadline: April 4th, 2025
Eligibility:
- Graduating High School senior of the current school year
- Plan to attend a college or university the following academic year
- Must be in good standing with your high school
- Must complete the full application
Amount: $5,000
Deadline: March 24th, 2025
Eligibility: To qualify, students must have applied for full-time enrollment at a four-year university or college and must complete and return a scholarship application to DeMayo Law Offices by the announced deadline.
