Summer Meals Program

The BCPS Summer Meals program starts June 9! While school is closed this summer, children 18 and under can get a free lunch from one of three options; daily lunch at two school sites, to-go weekly meal bundles, or the M.E.A.L. Mobile food truck stops.

Starting June 9, stop by Valdese Elementary cafeteria (298 Praley St. NW in Valdese) or Mountain View Elementary cafeteria (805 Bouchelle St. in Morganton) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free, filling lunch. The two cafeteria sites are open Monday through Thursday each week excluding June 30 to July 4. 

New this year, families can pick up a meal bundle of five breakfasts and five lunches for each child in the household each Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Burke High School (3695 East Burke Blvd, Connelly Springs) or Table Rock Middle School (1585 NC Hwy 126 in Morganton). This service will run each Thursday from June 12 to August 14 excluding July 3. 

Starting July 7, the M.E.A.L. Mobile food truck will make stops in Valdese and Morganton each Monday through Thursday serving free lunch to anyone 18 and under. Stops include Valdese Family Splash Park and Martha’s Park. More information to come regarding specific times.

All lunch spots are open to the public, so children do not have to be BCPS students to enjoy- just stop by. No registration is required. The BCPS Summer Meals program runs from June 9 to August 14. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
