Traditional Kindergarten Enrollment Information
Will your child be five years old on or before August 31st, 2021? If so, it is time to register your child for Kindergarten.

Also, if your child was eligible to enroll in the 2020-2021 school year, but you chose to delay enrollment due to COVID-19, you are also encouraged to enroll your child for Kindergarten for the upcoming school year.

Which district should I register? Click here to enter your address to determine which Burke County School district you live in.

Transfer Information: All students must register in their home district. However if you are interested in applying for a transfer to a different district, please complete this form (will be available May 1st - 31st.). Once the transfer is approved, records will be transferred from the home district to the school in which the transfer was requested.

Enrollment Information: Click here to complete the Google Form for Kindergarten Registration. Once the form is complete, someone from your child’s home school will be contacting you to collect more information and schedule a DIAL screening appointment.

What information will I need to enroll? To complete your kindergarten registration, you will need proof of age (birth certificate or other), three proofs of residency, and completed registration form.

DIAL Screening Students entering kindergarten are given a short assessment prior to entry. Click Here to find out when your child’s school will be conducting DIAL screenings.

Kindergarten Transition Events: Each elementary school will host a Virtual Kindergarten Transition session for parents. In the session parents will be able to meet the kindergarten teachers and the school principal in addition to getting important information you will need about your child beginning Kindergarten. Click HERE to find out when your child’s school will be hosting their virtual transition event.

Other information: Students are required to have a completed health assessment and receive the required immunizations for Kindergarten before they begin school in August. Students that do not have the required immunizations by the 30th day of school will be excluded from school until the requirement is met.
