BCPS Speech Contest

BCPS hosted the district-wide Elementary School Speech Contest on Wednesday at the Old Rock School in Valdese. 50 contestants gave speeches in four categories - Prose, Poetry, Notable Speeches and Original Composition. The first place winners were Judson W., Prose, "The Driver's Test is a Piece of Cake;" Adah C., Poetry, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs;" Sam S., Notable Speeches, "What It Was ...Was Football;" and Pasleigh F., Original Composition, "What I Think People Think." Congratulations to the winners, as well as all of the contestants for their hard work and bravery. 


BCPS hosted the district-wide Middle School Speech Contest on Wednesday at the Old Rock School in Valdese. 31 contestants gave speeches in five categories - Recited Oratory, Interpretive Prose, Interpretive Poetry, Interpretive Duo and Original Oratory. The first place winners were from Liberty, Leah H., Recited Oratory, "Make It Count;" from Walter Johnson, Joselyn M-T, Interpretive Prose, "The Best School Year Ever;" from Walter Johnson, William O-V, Interpretive Poetry, "Peanut Butter Sandwich;" from East Burke, Zoey T. and Beckett B., Interpretive Duo, "On The Air;" and from East Burke Middle, Brynnen S., Original Oratory, "Why You Should NEVER Grow Up." Congratulations to the winners, as well as all of the contestants for their hard work and bravery.
