Importance of Daily Attendance

Importance of Daily Attendance

Resolution to Emphasize the Importance of Daily Attendance at Burke County Public Schools

Whereas, consistent daily attendance is a crucial factor in a student’s academic success and overall
development;

Whereas, regular attendance positively impacts students’ learning, social skills, and future opportunities,
contributing to a well-rounded education;

Whereas, students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve higher academic performance,
graduate on time, and pursue post-secondary education or enter the workforce with strong skills and confidence;

Whereas, chronic absenteeism can lead to significant learning gaps, disengagement, and a higher likelihood of
dropping out, affecting both the individual student and the community as a whole;

Whereas, Burke County Public Schools is committed to providing a supportive and engaging educational
environment that encourages students to attend school every day, ready to learn;

Whereas, parents, guardians, educators, and the community play a vital role in promoting the importance of
regular attendance and supporting students in overcoming barriers to attendance;

Therefore, the Burke County Public Schools Board of Education hereby emphasizes the importance of daily
attendance and urges all students, parents, guardians, educators, and community members to prioritize and
support consistent school attendance. Burke County Public Schools will continue to implement and strengthen
programs and initiatives aimed at improving attendance rates, identifying and addressing causes of absenteeism,
and recognizing and rewarding students who demonstrate exemplary attendance.

This resolution is hereby communicated to all stakeholders, including students, parents, educators, and
community members, to reinforce the collective responsibility in ensuring that every student attends school every
day, thereby maximizing their potential and contributing to the success of Burke County Public Schools.
